Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2017 Club Champion of Champions
Today (Saturday 11 November) saw Nathan Brown emerge victorious to win the coveted Club Champion of Champions Trophy after a 21 – 14 victory of Jamie Bramley.

The losing semi-finalists were Steven Ridley and Ryan Sandham.

Sincere apologies for having to stage this event so late on in the season. It was essential that the autumn work was done on the green as early as possible. Judging from the condition of the green today it certainly looks like the right decision was made. Here’s to 2018 …

Lloyds 'B' retain the Metros Carlsberg Tetley 6 Man Team Competition
Tonight (Monday 9 October) saw our Lloyds 'B' team retain the coveted Metros Carsberg Tetley 6 Man Team Trophy after an emphatic victory of the Grapes Hotel B.C. from Hyde.

For the record our Lloyds 'A' team lost in the semi-final to the Grapes.

This was the Lloyds 10th success in this competition, what a record we as a club have at Metros and long may it continue.

Season 2017 - Waterloo Mixed Pairs Final Day
Today (Sunday 1 October) was the final day of the 2017 Waterloo Mixed Pairs and the Lloyds were well represented.

Last years runners-up Ben Phillips and Amanda Ridley lost in the quarter-final to Graeme and Cathy Wilson 21 – 16 after beating Dave Holt and Lynsey Forshaw 21 – 17 in the last 16.

However, Dave Carter and his partner Denise Hodge went all the way to the final after victories over Mark Holden & Louise Ollerton (21 – 14, Last 16), Andy Spragg & Tracey Hill (21 – 17, Quarter-Final), Graeme and Cathy Wilson (21 – 17, Semi-Final) before losing in the final 21 – 13 to Wayne Ditchfield & Karen Hill.

Well done boy and girls, you represented the Lloyds with pride and there is no doubt you will be back knocking on the door again next season.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Presidents Handicap
Tonight (Friday 22 September) saw Nathan Brown emerge victorious from a quality field to win our Season 2017 Presidents Handicap.

In the final Nathan beat Darren James 21 - 15. The game was a fitting climax to what had been a fantastic night's bowling. Thanks must go to Mike Geraghty who did a superb job of refereeing the final.

Both semi-finals finished 21 - 9, Nathan beat Gary Minton while Darren beat Ryan Sandham.

The losing quarter-finalists were John Hignett, Mike Geraghty, Amanda Ridley and Tom Mainwaring.

Thanks to everyone who turned up on the evening to support the players and show their appreciation for our Club President, Liam Cormican.

Lee Fletcher, Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2017 Altrincham & District LV League Senior Merit Winner
Tonight (Monday 18 September), Lee Fletcher lifted the coveted LV League Senior Merit trophy for the first time after a 21 – 12 victory over Terry King from Legh Arms B.C. at Victoria B.C. in Stockport.

In the semi-final Lee beat our Chairman, Dave Phillips 21 – 19 after a magnificent game which saw Dave comeback from 20 – 9 down to lead the jack out at 19 – 20. In the other semi-final Terry King had beaten our very own Richard Hindley.

Credit must go to the Victoria B.C. committee and members for staging the event on behalf of the Altrincham & District LV League.

Mike Geraghty, Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2017 Altrincham & District LV League Award of Merit Winner
Tonight (Friday 15 September), after a superb night’s bowling at Fallowfield B.C. Mike Geraghty emerged victorious to win the LV League Award of Merit after a thrilling 21 – 20 victory over Steve Blackshaw from LMRCA. This completes a unique double for Mike who last season won the LV League Senior Merit.

In the semi-final Mike had beaten Mark Bennett from Victoria B.C. 21 – 19 whilst in the other semi-final Steve had beaten Jack Gallagher from Metros B.C.

Credit must go to the Fallowfield B.C. committee and members for staging the event on behalf of the Altrincham & District LV League.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 David Lloyd Youth Competition
Today Saturday 2 September saw Jack Marrow from Wigan emerge victorious from a quality field to win the 40th David Lloyd Youth Competition.

In the final Jack beat Ben Gloag from Hyde 11 – 9. In the semi-finals Jack had beaten Matty Stewart from Cumbria 11 – 3 whilst Ben beat Natasha Sands from Woodley 11 – 10.

I would like pass to on my sincere thanks to those club members who sponsored the competition and to the members who turned up on the day to help ensure the event ran so smoothly. Special thanks to the ladies in the bowlhouse who kept everyone fed and watered throughout the day.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Trafford Evening League 1st Division Champions
Tonight Thursday 31 August, saw our Lloyds mixed team retain the Trafford Evening League 1st Division Championship after an emphatic 199 - 88 victory over the Navigation.

Our mixed team have finished the season with the incredible record of having played 22 matches and winning all 22. They have finished the season with 4289 chalks, a match average of 194.95 chalks per game.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Cheadle & District Ladies League 1st Division Runners-Up
Our Lloyds Ladies team have once again finished runners-up in the Cheadle & District Ladies League 1st Division.

Captained as ever by Lynda Clemence, our girls enjoyed another very successful season. Their playing record was ... Played 14, Won 11, Lost 3. They finished the season with 2579 chalks, a match average of 184.20.

Congratulations to Amanda Ridley won the Division 1 average prize. Denise Conliffe, Alex Mitchell, Charlotte Hough and Maureen Morgan also all finished in the top 14 of the league averages.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Altrincham & District LV League 1st Division Champions
Our 1st team led by Captain, Craig McGuigan and Vice-Captain, Steve Ridley, have retained the Altrincham & District LV League 1st Division Championship.

The 1st team have enjoyed an incredible season and have finished with a record of Played 24, Won 23 Lost 1. They finished the season with 4784 chalks, an incredible match average of 199.3.

Meanwhile, our 2nd team led by Captain, Gary Minton, and Vice-Captain, Pete Conway, finished 6th with 4030 chalks, a match average of 167.9. Well done lads, an amazing achievement for any 2nd team.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Cheshire County Bowling Association Brunner Cup Runners-Up
Today (Saturday 19 August), saw our 1st team finish runners-up in the Brunner Cup after another epic encounter with Castle Private B.C. at Wilmslow Royal British Legion. It must be said that the host club deserve great credit for the hospitality and facilities they provided for the spectators whilst the greensman produced a superb playing surface for the players.

This seasons Brunner Cup final was a repeat of the 2013 final and once again the two teams produced a magnificent match, which had the large crowd on the edge of their seats. The final match score was 205 – 200 in favour of Castle Private, the individual scores were as follows: -

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Cheshire County Bowling Association Inter-League Championsip Runners-Up
Today (Sunday 13 August), saw our 1st team finish runners-up in the Cheshire County Bowling Association Inter-League Championship after an epic days bowling at The Railway Hotel in Congleton. The green itself was in magnificent condition and a credit to all concerned.

In the final they were well beaten by Wharton Conservative Club 148 – 124, the individual scores were: -

Roy Stronach - Lloyd Hotel B.C. Life Member
It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Roy Stronach has passed away after a short illness.

Roy was made a Life Member of the Lloyds in 2012 in recognition of all the work he had done for the club over many years.

Our thoughts are with his wife June and her family at this time.

Tonight (Monday 17 July) saw Michael McDonnell win the prestigious Lloyds Club Merit after a 21 - 15 victory over Craig McGuigan.

The final was a fitting climax to what was a fantastic nights bowling.

Dave Phillips, Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Metros Sports Carlsberg Tetley Classic Ruinner-Up
Dave Phillips lost in the final of the Season 2017 Metros Sports Carlsberg Tetley Classic 21 - 15 to the games no 1 bowler Gary Ellis.

In the semi-final Dave had beaten fellow Lloyds team mate Jamie Bramley 21 - 17. Well played Jamie.

In earlier rounds Dave had beaten Ryan Walters and Glynn Cookson whilst Jamie had beaten Lee Johnstone and Jason Jones.

Craig McGuigan & Jamie Bramley, Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 Altrincham & District LV League Pairs Winners
Craig McGuigan and Jamie Bramley tonight (Sunday 9 July) beat fellow Lloyds team mates Mike Geraghty and Chris Alderson 21 - 14 to win the prestigious Altrincham & District LV League Pairs Competition. The final night was held at Sale Conservative Club and it must be said the green was a credit to the host club and their greensman.

In the semi-finals Craig and Jamie has beaten Andy McGuigan and Dominic King (Legh Arms) whilst Mike and Chris had beaten Andy Pearson and Andy Birtles (Budenbergs).
 
Gerald Merry, Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 BCGBA Jack & Jean Isherwood Veterans Championship Winner
Today (Wednesday 5 July), Gerald Merry emerged victorious from a quality field to win the Season 2017 BCGBA Jack & Jean Isherwood Veterans Championship.

This seasons event was held at Prees Cricket & Recreation Club in Shropshire.

In the early rounds Gerald beat Roly Pratt and Phil May. Then in the quarter-final he beat Geoff Davies (Shropshire) 21 - 14. In the semi-final he beat Potteries legend Lee Dale 21 - 19.

In the final Gerald beat Ronald Regan (Warwick & Worcester) 21 - 17 after an epic contest.

Congratulations Gerald on a truly magnificent achievement.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2017 George Ridley Mixed Pairs
Andy Hamman and Julie Green won the Season 2017 George Ridley Mixed Pairs Competition after a superb days bowling at the Lloyds.

In the final they beat the defending champions Danny Watson and Doris Cargill 21 – 13.

The losing semi-finalists were Damian Morrison and Julie Chapman and Matthew Sands and Natasha Sands.

Sincere thanks must go to the ladies in the kitchen … Margaret, Lynne, Lorna and Catherine and Neil, Gary, John and Monty for their help and support throughout the day.

Thanks to all the players for supporting the competition, without you it would not be the success it is. We hope to see you all in 2018.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2015 Chris Dooley Club Pairs
Today Good Friday 14 April Gary Minton & Ryan Sandham beat Paul Dooley & Steve Ridley 11 - 5 to win the Chris Dooley Pairs Competition.

On a damp and miserable day the standard of bowling was superb and a credit to all concerned.

Special mention must go to the ladies who supported the event Carol Howarth, Denise Conliffe and Maureen Morgan.

It was great to see Paul Dooley back on the hallowed turf and today's competition was a fitting tribute to his father Chris Dooley, who is still fondly remembered by one and all.

For the record the losing semi-finalists were Maureen Morgan & Dave Phillips and Denise Conliffe & John Hignett.
 
Season 2017 - World Club Championships
The Lloyds lost in the quarter-final of the BCGBA World Club Championships at Fox Lane Sports & Social Club to the eventual winners King George V from Warwick & Worcester (136 - 141).

In the final King George V beat Thongsbridge from Yorkshire 154 - 124.

Tonight (Friday 24 March) tonight Mike Geraghty emerged victorious from a quality field to clinch the Wilkinson Trophy 31 Up Handicap for a record 3rd time.
