Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2018 Champion of Champions
Ryan Sandham today (Saturday 6 October) won the Lloyds Champion of Champions competition after a thrilling 21 – 19 victory of Craig McGuigan.

The final was a fitting climax to our 2018 club competitions and thanks to those players who supported todays competition. In the semi-finals Ryan beat Nathan Brown 21 – 20 after another fantastic game while Craig beat Amanda Ridley 21 – 7.

The losing quarter-finalists were Gary Minton, Trevor Gray, Gerald Merry and Steve Ridley.

The total prize money paid out by the Lloyds in this seasons’ club competitions is just under £900, phenomenal.

Pete Smith & Cathy Wall – Season 2018 Trafford Evening League Doris Armson Mixed Pairs Winners
Today (Saturday 22 September) saw Pete Smith & Cathy Wall win the Trafford Evening League Doris Armson Mixed Pairs competition after a 21 – 10 victory over team mates Ben Phillips & Amanda Ridley in the final at Urmston Sports.

This was Pete & Cathy’s 5th success in this competition in the last 10 years, that is a staggering achievement. In the semi-final they beat Alex Harris and Dave Appleton 21 – 12 while Ben and Amanda had beaten Steve Clarke & Linda Cooper 21 – 6.

Thanks to Urmston Sports for staging today's competition, the green was in excellent condition and their catering was superb.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2018 Presidents Handicap
Tonight (Friday 21 September) saw club legend Graham Wells win the 2018 Presidents Handicap after a thrilling 21 – 19 victory over Dave Phillips in the final.

The standard of bowling on the final night was simply staggering, it was a credit to all the players. It has to be said the green has stood up remarkably well to the torrential rain that has fallen over the last 48 hours.

The final itself was a fitting end to what has been a fantastic competition and reflected so well on the club itself. The losing semi-finalists were Tom Mainwaring and Amanda Ridley. Dave beat Tom 21 -16 whilst Graham beat Amanda 21 – 14.

The losing quarter-finalists were Liam Cormican, Ryan Sandham, Nathan Brown and Damian Cormican.

Sincere thanks to those club members who turned up to support the players and show their appreciation to our President, Liam Cormican. A special mention must go to Neil & Christine Williams for the superb refreshments they provided to players and spectators alike on what was a cold and blustery evening.

Well played Wellsey, a fantastic end to what has been another memorable season for you. Davva, as sure as eggs are eggs ... you will be back!.

PS … Rumour has it there are some desperate teams in the Metros 6 Man Team Competition. Some words of wisdom … what goes around comes around and jealousy is a terrible thing.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2018 Altrincham & South Manchester League Division 1 Champions
Tonight (Tuesday 18 September) saw the Lloyds officially crowned Altrincham & South Manchester League Division 1 Champions after an emphatic 191 – 146 victory at Quarry Bank ‘B’.

We have finished the season with 3154 chalks, a match average of 197.13.

Tonight’s game for the most part was played in torrential rain and great credit must go to all the players. Quarry Berg Boro Bank fought hard all the way but there was no stopping the champions elect from recording their 15th victory of the season.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2018 Altrincham & South Manchester League A. T.Nolan Trophy Winners
Today (Sunday 16 September) saw the Lloyds win the Altrincham & South Manchester league A. T. Nolan Trophy after a convincing 192 - 149 victory over Sale Excelsior at LMRCA.

Great credit must go to the host club (LMRCA) for the condition of the green and the hospitality they showed to both teams. It was also a day which reflected so well on the Altrincham & South Manchester League Management Council.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2018 The 41st David Lloyd Youth Competition
Today (Saturday 15 September) saw the 41st running of the David Lloyd Youth Trophy Competition. The club wish to extend their sincere thanks to all the sponsors of this seasons competition. Special thanks also to those club members and friends of the club who showed up to lend a helping hand. The competition would not be the undoubted success it was without your efforts.

The total prize money paid out today was £560 with the eventual winner Jake Frost from Rochdale collecting the £100 first prize and replica trophy following his 11 – 6 victory over Sophie Briddon from New Nills.

The losing semi-finalists were Natasha Sands and Tom Eccles. The losing quarter-finalists were Josh warner, Jack Marrow, Nathan Crocombe and Oliver Hartley.

On behalf of everyone at the Lloyds we hope to see you all again in 2019.

Lloyds 'A' - Season 2018 Altrincham & District LV League Division 1 Champions
Monday 13 August saw our Lloyds 'A' team clinch the Altrincham & District LV League 1st Division Championship with a game to spare after a 199 - 117 victory over Metros Sports at HQ.

Sincere thanks to captain, Craig McGuigan and vice-captain, Pete Smith for their efforts on behalf of the club during the season. What an achievement boys, a monumental effort from all concerned.

Tonight (Monday 20 August) saw the final league games played in this seasons Altrincham & District LV League.

As previously reported our 1st team ended up retaining their 1st Division Championship title and finished the season with 4387 chalks, a staggering match average of 199.4.

Our 2nd team finished in 6th place with 3756 chalks, a match average of 170.7 chalks.

Thanks to Gary Minton, Pete Conway and Keith Hughes for their efforts this season on behalf of the club this season.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2018 Cheshire County Bowling Association Inter League Championship Runners-Up
Today (Sunday 12 August) saw us lose in the final of the CCBA Inter League Championship 157 - 135 to worthy winners Queens Park from Sandbach.

Today's final day was held at Wilmslow Royal British Legion and credit to all the CCBA Officials for putting on such a great day.

In the semi-finals Queens Park beat Wharton Cons in a fantastic game whilst we unfortunately received a walk over after Houldsworth WMC failed to raise a team.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2018 Cheshire County Bowling Association De-Knoop Winners
Today (Saturday 4 August) saw our Lloyds ‘B’ team retain the CCBA De-Knoop Cup after a thrilling 179 -170 victory over Comberbach B.C. at a baking Chelford B.C.

Great credit must go to CCBA for putting on such a great occasion and to the host club for producing such a fine playing surface.

Season 2018 - Altrincham & District LV League Season Merit
Tonight (Friday 27 July) saw Mike Geraghty finish runner-up in the Altrincham & District LV League Senior Merit after losing 21 - 17 to John Davies from Victoria B.C. in the final.

The final night was a credit to the league management council and to Metros Sports & Social Club. The setting was superb, the green in magnificent condition and a large crowd gathered to watch some fantastic bowling.

In the semi-finals Mike beat Pete Smith 21 - 9 while John Davies beat Ben Phillips 21 - 11.

The losing quarter-finalists were Andy McGuigan, Andy Raymond, Dave Banks and Chris Barlow.

Well played to all our Lloyds lads they represented the club with great pride and were all a credit to themselves.
 
Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2018 Club Merit
Tonight (Monday 23 July) saw Chris Alderson emerge victorious from a qualify field to win the prestigious Lloyds Club Merit for the 2nd time after a 21 – 12 victory over Amanda Ridley.

The standard of bowling on the night was absolutely superb and a credit to all the players.

In the semi-finals Chris beat Pete Smith 21 – 9 whilst Amanda Ridley beat Jim McGurk 21 – 7.

The final was nip and tuck early doors before Chris made a decisive break to take control of the game. Amanda battled away until the end but there was no stopping Chris who emerged a worthy winner.

This was Chris’s 2nd success in the Lloyds Club Merit following his last triumph in 2012.

Season 2018 - Altrincham & District LV League Pairs Competition
Last night (Friday 20 July) saw Mike Geraghty and Chris Alderson win the coveted Altrincham & District LV League Pairs Competion after a thrilling 21 – 18 victory over Andy McGuigan and Andy Raymond from Altrincham Boro.

The final night was held at the Linden Club in Sale and the host club deserve great credit for the condition of the green and the facilities they provided.

The final itself was a credit to the league and all the players the standard of bowling was quite exceptional. Having lost in last year’s final Mike and Chris were in a very determined mood and set off like a house on fire to open up a 13 – 7 lead. Next minute the Boro boys came storming back to take a 14 – 13 lead. Mike and Chris kept their composure though and rallied again to go on and clinch their first LV league pairs title. Well played lads, a tremendous effort.

Season 2018 - Altrincham & District LV Bowling League Derek Ford Trophy Winners
Today (Sunday 24 June) saw our 1st team win the Derek Ford Trophy after a 197 - 150 victory over Victoria B.C. at a sun drenched United Services Club in Sale.

Stars of the show were Matt Sands and Ben Phillips who led the way with 21 - 4 and 21 - 6 victories respectively. News of our victory has already reached Captain Craig McGuigan who sent this message to his troops "Let's make sure we go on and make it a League and Cup double".

Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2018 George Ridley Mixed Pairs Competition
Today (Saturday 2 June) saw history made when Andy Hamman and Julie Green successfully defended their George Ridley Mixed Pairs Trophy to become the first pair in the competitions 10-year history to win the event twice.

In the final they beat Amanda Ridley and Tom Mainwaring 21 – 14. Andy and Julie had raced into a 13 – 3 lead only for Tom to lead the jack out at 13 across. Then Andy produced a “wonder” bowl to win the end and they broke out again to seal a deserved victory.

In the semi-finals Andy and Julie had beaten Dave McDermott and Julie Gardner in a pulsating semi-final while Amanda and Tom had beaten Dave Phillips and Carol Howarth.

The George Ridley Mixed Pairs Competition continues to go from strength to strength but its success would not be possible without the efforts of so many people. The committee wish to extend its sincere thanks to the following people … Card markers Maureen Morgan, Charlotte Hough, Emily Gowen and Janet Hargreaves. Referees Neil Williams, Ben Phillips and Cathy Wall and our kitchen staff Christine Williams, Tracy and Jemimah McGuigan, Lynne and Lorna Ridley, Liam Cormican and Margaret Bentley. Last but by no means least name card sellers Mike Geraghty and Amanda Ridley.

Ryan Sandham – Season 2018 Greater Manchester County Parks Merit Winner
Today (Saturday 26 May) Ryan Sandham emerged from a quality field to win the coveted Greater Manchester County Parks Senior Merit at Metros Sports & Social Club in Stretford.

The Metros green was as usual in magnificent condition and thanks must go to the host club for facilities and catering that they provided for the players and spectators.

In the final Ryan beat Wayne Usher from Tottington Cons 21 – 13. In the semi-finals Ryan beat Dave Phillips 21 – 18 whilst Wayne beat Clive Chapman 21 – 18.

In earlier rounds Ryan had beaten Gary Minton, Mark Kelly and Craig McGuigan.

Well played Ryan a fantastic achievement and another one to add to your ever growing CV.

Gary Minton - Season 2018 Trafford Evening League Beryl Kirby Handicap Winner
Our LV League 2nd team captain Gary Minton swept all before him at a sun drenched Navigation B.C. today (Sunday 13 May) to win the Trafford Evening League Beryl Kirby Handicap.

In the final Gary beat Keith Hamblett (Navigation) 21 - 12. In the semi-finals Gary beat Chris Allen (Navigation) while Keith had beaten Arthur West (Riddings Park).

In the earlier rounds Gary had beaten Sue Hamblett (Navigation) and Peter Kelsall (Riddings Park).

Well played Minto, a great achievement. It's good to see someone who puts so much back into the game enjoying success on the green.

Lloyd Hotel B.C. - Season 2018 Chris Dooley Pairs Competition
Today, Good Friday 30 March, saw us once again stage the annual Chris Dooley Pairs Competition. This seasons competition was once again kindly sponsored by Paul Dooley and Steve & Pat Cook. Our continued thanks to you all for your magnificent sponsorship of this event.

We had a fantastic turn out today and we were blessed with the weather. One of the highlights was undoubtedly the debut in our club competitions of Michelle Conway. Michelle you were superb, a credit to the competition and you epitomise what the day is all about. It is without doubt one of the highlights of our club calendar.

The eventual winners were Ben Phillips & Graham Wells who beat Matt Sands & Amanda Ridley 11 – 8 in the final.

In the semi-finals Ben & Graham had beaten Craig McGuigan & Mark Sandham 11 – 7, whilst Matt & Amanda beat Steve Cook & Liam Cormican 11 – 0 in the other semi-final.

Thanks to Steve Ridley and Pete Smith for organising and running the competition and thanks everyone who turned up to support it. See you all in 2019.
 
Lloyd Hotel B.C. – Season 2018 Wilkinson Trophy
Tonight, Friday 23 March, saw Steve “Monty” Ridley roll back the decades … well years at least to capture the Wilkinson Trophy for the very first time.

In the final Monty beat Gerald Merry 31 – 28 after a magnificent final which was a credit to the competition. At one stage Gerald led 18 – 4 but Monty “dug in” and came storming back to capture the one trophy missing from his Lloyds CV.

In the semi-finals Monty beat Damian Cormican 31 – 22 whilst Gerald beat Tom Mainwaring 31 – 25.

The losing quarter-finalists were Amanda Ridley, Graham Wells, Ben Phillips and Dave Phillips.

Thanks to Chairman, Dave Phillips for refereeing the final and to those club members who turned up to show their support for the competition.

All the entries fees for this seasons competition are going towards a £100 donation to Francis House Children's Hospice.
