Club Constitution

Revised 2024 Constitution and General Rules

1) The club shall be known as the Lloyd Hotel Bowling Club

2) The object of the club is to provide facilities for and promote participation of the whole
community in the sport of crown green bowling.

3) The Officers of the Club shall consist of: -
a) President
b) Chairman
c) Deputy Chairman
d) Secretary
e) Treasurer
f) Minute Secretary
With seven (7) members (minimum). Hereinafter called the committee.

4) Two Auditors are to be elected each year at the Annual General Meeting.

5) An Annual General Meeting shall be held in the January of each year for the purpose of
electing officers and adopting the balance sheet.

In the event of an Extra Ordinary General Meeting being called an attendance of 2/3 of the current
membership must attend in order to approve any amendment to the club’s constitution.

6) Notices of Motion and suggested revised rules shall be logged with the Secretary not later than
14 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

7) The income and property of the Club shall be applied solely towards promoting the Club’s
objectives as set forth on this constitution and no portion there of shall be paid or transferred,
directly or indirectly, to Members of the Club.

8) This meeting has the power to elect members or non-members as patrons of Lloyd Hotel
Bowling Club.

9) In the event of the dissolution of the Club, any assets remaining after the satisfaction of all
debts and liabilities shall not be paid to or distributed among the members of the Club, but shall be
given or transferred to one or more of the following approved sporting or charitable bodies:

• A registered charitable organisation(s).
• Another Club which is a registered CASC
• The sports national governing body for use by them for related community sports

10) Subscriptions
The Annual Subscription of the Lloyd Hotel Bowling Club shall be £25.00 for a Full Member of which
£20.00 shall be classed as a voluntary donation.

The Annual Subscription of the Lloyd Hotel Bowling Club shall be £20.00 for a Senior Citizen/Junior
Member/ Lady Member and Social Member of which £15.00 shall be classed as a voluntary donation.

11) A club levy of £2.00 per player per match shall be paid.

Team Captains or Vice-Captains to collect match levies and these must be paid to the Treasurer at
least once every calendar month.

12) The clubs financial year starts from the 1st January each year. Any member not having paid
their subscriptions shall not be entitled to take part in any club handicap or league fixture nor be
entitled to use the green, except at the discretion of the committee until all monies are paid.

13) That any lapsed member who used the facilities of the club during the previous season and
who now wishes to renew their membership must first honour all preceding seasons membership
subscriptions and levies where applicable.

14) The Lloyd Hotel Bowling Club is open to all persons irrespective of ethnicity, nationality, sexual
orientation, religion or beliefs; or of age, sex or disability except as a necessary consequence of the
requirements of crown green bowling as a particular sport. All the facilities of the club are available
to all members of the club. Application forms are available on request from the Secretary.

15) The Club may refuse membership or expel from membership only for good and sufficient
cause, such as conduct or character likely to bring the Club or sport into disrepute. Appeal against
such a decision may be made to the said Committee and the outcome decided by a majority vote.

16) The membership of the club shall not exceed one hundred (100) and no further members shall
be accepted after that limit is reached unless vacancies arise through resignation or other cause.

17) Members shall be permitted to introduce visitors and a visitor’s book shall be kept for the
purpose of recording such introductions, the member introducing being responsible for the entry.

18) A Committee Meeting (Five to form a quorum) shall be called monthly or at the discretion of
the Secretary for the purpose of considering applications for membership and the transaction of
general business. The committee shall be responsible for the affairs and general conduct of the club.
They shall have full control over the playing of handicaps, tournaments etc and shall stipulate the
time when such events shall commence.

19) Should any member of the committee absent themselves from three consecutive committee
meetings, they may at the discretion of the committee be relieved of the position, and a member
elected by the committee to fill that vacancy.

20) Rules of Play
• British Crown Green (‘Laws of the game of Crown Green Bowling’) rules shall govern play.
• No member shall have more than one bye in any one competition. (A walkover not to count).
• The committee have power to preclude any other game from being played whilst a club or
invited competition game is in progress.

21) All disputes arising on the green shall be referred to the captain and committee then present,
whose decision shall be binding. Should a complaint be made to the committee of any member
having transgressed any of the rules of the club, or misconducted themselves to the annoyance of
any other member, either on the green or premises, the committee shall investigate the case, and
their decision will be final.

22) Any member desirous of submitting any matter of interest, beneficial to the club shall give
notice in writing to the Secretary for consideration by the committee.

23) Handicapping
• Limit behind scratch 10 chalks. – Limit over scratch 10 chalks.
• Non prize winners on completing two handicaps during the current season shall receive one
chalk. Games to be 21up (or as decreed by Committee) plus any minus handicap.

24) All trophies in respect of individual club competitions will be presented immediately after the
conclusion of the event. Should any player fail to complete their obligations for any individual event,
they will forfeit any prize money due to them and the Committee will put all prize monies forfeited
towards the following season’s event.

25) Team Average Prize Money will be awarded on the basis of the players with the most number
of wins in each league during the season. Only players participating in at least 75% of all matches
will be eligible. In the event of players tying with the same number of wins, the one with the best
average will receive the team average prize money.

26) All average winner's prize monies due; will be presented at a suitable time and place at the
discretion of the Committee. Should any player not attend at such time without genuine reason, they
will forfeit any prize money due to them and the Committee will put all prize monies forfeited back
into club funds.

27) The cost of hiring the Lloyd Hotel Bowling Club green and clubhouse facilities shall be £60.00
per day.
